A collection wouldn’t be complete without a Benjamin Moore Dark Olive painted piece. I never tire of this color and, without fail, whoever comes to my house and sees me working on it comments how beautiful this color is. I whole heartedly agree! Here are the details of this makeover:
BEFORE (photo courtesy of previous owner...I somehow didn't manage to get my own shot!)
This piece has a lot going for it. Simple lines, good storage, and ball bearing drawer slides. With updated legs, hardware and new paint I knew this dresser would turn out great.
PREP
I started by cleaning and sanding the entire piece. Once finished, I addressed the legs. It already had a solid support underneath so I knew it would be best to keep that. To it, I drilled holes and added hardware to screw in new 4” legs. Much more modern now! Love this look! Last, I used wood filler to fill the noticeable imperfections and sanded down smooth.
PRIMER AND PAINT
Next came the primer and paint. This is when you start to see what the piece will look like. I used a coat of high quality primer to give the paint a good sticking surface and then two coats of Benjamin Moore’s Dark Olive (oops! I didn't take a pic of the green!).
FINISH
Once completely dry, I applied a matte finishing wax to the paint. Then, I replaced most of the ball bearing slides with new ones, added new black hardware and peel and stick wallpaper for the drawer liners in a simple, clean black and white floral. Stunning and all ready to be enjoyed in a new home :-). I hope you enjoyed this makeover! Feel free to message me if you have any comments or questions. Thank you!
