Jasper Black Green 8 Drawer Dresser

A new paint color! Sherwin William's Jasper is a gorgeous deep rich black/green. Sophisticated, clean, classic. I decided to do black iron legs on this one and couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Read on for more about this makeover...

BEFORE

What a lovely piece! Solid, super heavy, gorgeously built dresser. Yes - those pulls are eagles. Very presidential looking. There is damage on the base but that's ok...the plan is to updated those outdated legs anyway! This piece had A LOT going on. And if you know how I like to refinish...it's to simplify!

PREP

I started by removing all hardware, sanding and removing the base. I also sanded down the details on the sides and also the middle piece. I then removed the chunky trim in the middle. Once the structure was simplified, I filled in the drawer pull holes on the top two middle drawers (you can't tell with this picture but they didn't line up with one another...I'm a bit obsessive like that) and then drilled new holes. I also filled in the indented circles to modernize the design. It was actually quite a bit of work! More than I normally do BUT I had a vision ;-).

PRIME, PAINT, SEAL

Once I've cleaned up the dust (I like to wash with a water/alcohol mix); it's time for paint! After a coat of primer, this piece is ready for two coats of Sherwin William's Jasper...the prettiest deep dark green color I've seen yet. If you want a good jewel toned dark green, this is it! Once painted, I used a matte polycrylic followed with wax (I like the look) to protect and seal.

HARDWARE AND LINER

To complement the black iron T legs and classic green I chose, I picked matte black pulls and knobs for the drawers. To line the drawers, I used a window pane printed black and white wallpaper. The white is clean and crisp and the classic windowpane suits the look I was envisioning. I am so happy with how this piece turned out!

Thanks for reading! Do you like the macrame piece as well or possibly the painting :-)??? I made both over the winter and I think they go so well here! Interested in purchasing several items?
