Six Drawer Oak to Modern Cream

Hello! This is the second cream piece I mentioned I had up my sleeve :-). I just love this color and this build turned out so modern. There are quite a few dressers with the front middle support in the on trend stores right now...I was excited to get my hands on a piece where I could try out this look! See below for the details on this makeover...
BEFORE
I love the simple, symmetrical six drawer design plus the lower build as it works in many places - including behind a sofa, or under a TV. I don't love the bulky base, pointed design on the top and poor quality hardware and drawers in need of new slides.
DESIGN PLAN

SIMPLIFY
Removed base and bulked up current legs! Nothing wrong structurally here...it just needed a little bulking up on the legs to get that higher end look (and not scratch floors!). I also sanded out the points on the top of the piece to simplify/modernize the look.
SAND, PRIME, PAINT
A good sanding (Dewalt orbital and by hand to remove all shine), high quality primer and two coats of my new favorite color, Benjamin Moore Creamy White. As I mentioned in a previous post, the inspiration came from cabinets painted in a Studio McGee design. LOVE!
FINISH/DRAWER SLIDES/NEW HARDWARE
Matte finishing wax, a good cleaning, new drawer slides (5 new, 1 repaired) and new hardware brings this one into updated condition! The hardware used deviates from the design plan...I ended up going with solid brass adjustable pulls. It turns out the holes are just shy of 3" apart - which is not standard (no wonder the old pulls were all broken! They were the wrong size!). Luckily, I've been eyeing these adjustable pulls for awhile now and jumped on the opportunity to use them. A little more spendy but well worth the look.
STAGE AND SELL
I hope you enjoyed this makeover and are loving this paint color as much as I am! Feel free to send me a message at rachael@rachaelannart.com (or via my website) if you have any questions! Thanks for stopping by!
