Again...catching up! Here is another project created for a client. This one is for a nursery...dresser doubling as a changing table. So cute and smart as it can be repurposed again after it's served it's specific purpose in this space. Thus, we had to get the right piece to fit the changing pad and also update the piece to the right height for changing baby! I love how it turned out. Here is a quick rundown of the makeover:
BEFORE
Picture courtesy of previous owner. High quality American made dresser just in need of an update!
DESIGN PLAN
SANDING/STRUCTURAL CHANGES
Sanded with orbital Dewalt sander + by hand. Just make sure all shine is gone! Shine = bad :-). Next, I removed the base, added leg hardware and rebuilt the support (adding middle leg addition).
PRIME, PAINT, MATTE FINISHING WAX
Primer, two coats of Benjamin Moore's Dark Olive and matte finishing wax to seal
CLEAN, UPDATE HARDWARE, MAINTANENCE
A thorough clean (also removing painter's tape), updated hardware and candle wax on the wood drawer slides. Now it's time to...
STAGE AND SELL
This will look so amazing in a nursery! So much storage and such a beautiful piece. I hope you enjoyed this blog post and find inspiration in updating...a little work and you can have a beautiful, high quality piece that continues to be used and appreciated for many years to come.
